Don’t Forget The Details When Renting A Banquet Hall

Banquet halls are often ideal locations for events like wedding receptions, anniversaries, family reunions, and graduation parties. Choosing the right banquet hall or room for your event requires paying close attention to detail to ensure that you have the best venue.

A good first step is to make a checklist of everything that you require or desire for your event. For example, consider the location of the venue. Is it convenient for your guests? If the banquet hall is located in a downtown area, is there sufficient parking and is the parking located close enough to the venue?

Here are some practical considerations to take into account when looking over banquet hall rentals:

Price – How much does it cost to rent the venue, and what exactly are you getting for that price? Reception halls often charge per person, but in some cases you may be able to strike a deal with the owners. Make sure you read over all the fine print of the rental contract so you do not get surprised by hidden charges that you thought were included in the original price.

Availability – Reception halls are often busy especially at certain times of the year. For example, weddings are particularly popular in the summer. Rental rates often depend on when you book the room. Thus, banquet hall rentals during the off season will usually cost less than during peak periods.

Special packages – Does the banquet room have special deals for your type of event? For example, if you are planning a wedding reception, find out if they have special wedding packages. These plans usually include things like wedding cake, punch, catering, decoration, entertainment and the like. Often you can get good deals by using these packages rather than trying to arrange all these different details on your own.

Catering services – Not all banquet halls include catering, so if you need these services you should ask in advance. Some venues have in-house catering with their own kitchens and staff, while others have contracts with separate catering services.

Some other details to consider are capacity, the availability of venue staff during the event, and the conditions that will prevail around the hall on the reception day. For example, will there be other events around the same time, or will there be lots of traffic in the area? A little careful planning ahead of time can help you to ensure a successful event with minimum hassles.

Are there any nonexpensive banquet halls in Chicago?
I am getting married on March 24, 2007 and need help finding a banquet hall, or a plain hall that we could decorate, that isn’t real expensive. We Are Not Rich!
I meant inexpensive, sorry. Also are there any Churches that are available for rent to have a wedding in Chicago?

My friend had her wedding at the Hickory Hills Country Club (95th and Roberts Rd, Hickory Hills, IL) and I think it was very reasonable. There is also the Sabre Room (its on 95th St, of LaGrange Rd), which is also a fair price. I also heard the Crystal Skye (47th St, off of Harlem…I think its in Lyons) is also a good deal, especially with top-shelf liquor.
